Frequently Asked Questions

A domain name is the address people type to reach your website, such as sahartech.net.pk. It points to the server where your site is hosted. Our beginner’s guide to domain names explains the parts of a domain and how to pick one.

The domain is the address; hosting is the space where the website files live. You need both. This plain language comparison covers it in two minutes.

Type the name into the domain search tool. It checks every extension at once and shows alternatives if your first choice is taken.

Nameservers tell the internet which hosting company holds your website. Change them in your client area under the domain’s settings. Changes spread worldwide within a few hours. Our DNS guide explains what happens behind the scenes.

Keep the domain at SaharTech and add the DNS records the builder gives you (usually an A record and a CNAME) in the DNS manager. Shopify, for example, asks for an A record to its IP and a CNAME for www.

Yes. Unlock the domain in your client area, request the EPP code, and give it to the new registrar. There is no fee to transfer out, and PK domain moves are processed through PKNIC.

Submit an ownership change request from the client area with the new owner’s details. SaharTech verifies both parties by email before the change is made. PK domain ownership changes are also updated at PKNIC.

It is a unique password for your domain that proves you own it, used only when transferring the domain to another registrar. Request it from your client area and never share it publicly.

Sometimes. Expired domains with a clean history and existing backlinks can help SEO, but many carry spam history. Read expired domains: should you buy them before spending money on one.

Yes. Most global extensions can be registered for up to ten years at once, which locks in the price and removes the risk of missing a renewal.

Parking keeps a registered domain reserved with no website attached. You can park a domain you plan to use later or hold for brand protection, then attach hosting whenever you are ready.

No. Domains allow letters, numbers, and hyphens only, and no spaces. Hyphens cannot be the first or last character.

PKNIC registers all PK domains in two year terms as a minimum, so pricing and renewals are always in two year blocks.

.pk suits any brand and is shortest. .com.pk is common for commercial companies, .net.pk for network and IT businesses, and .org.pk for non profits and organisations. All rank equally in Pakistan.

No. .edu.pk is restricted to recognised educational institutions and PKNIC asks for supporting documents before approval. The price is the same as .pk once approved.

Yes. There is no residency requirement for .pk and .com.pk. Only .edu.pk and .gov.pk are restricted by eligibility.

PKNIC is the official registry that manages all domains ending in .pk. Every PK domain, regardless of which company sells it, is ultimately recorded with PKNIC. SaharTech is a PKNIC Gold Partner. Visit pknic.net.pk for registry policies.

PKNIC verifies each order and the registrant’s email before activation. This usually completes within hours during working days, whereas .com registrations are automatic and instant.

Yes. PK domains support custom nameservers just like any other extension. Update them in your SaharTech client area and the change reaches PKNIC automatically.

No. A PK domain can point to hosting anywhere in the world. The domain shows your business is Pakistani; the hosting location does not affect that.

PK domain contact visibility follows PKNIC registry rules rather than the privacy service used for .com domains. Registrant details are kept with PKNIC and are not sold or published for marketing.

Log in at the PKNIC portal, start a new registration or open the domain you want to renew, choose prepaid card as the payment method, enter the code, and confirm. The full walkthrough with screenshots is in our PKNIC card guide.

Yes. You buy the card from SaharTech without any PKNIC account. You only need the PKNIC account later, when you redeem the code to register or renew a domain.

Yes. If you would rather not deal with the PKNIC portal, order the domain directly on the PK domain page and SaharTech handles the registration for you.

The card is not tied to a specific domain name, so use it for a different name or keep it for a future renewal. It does not expire until used.

No. PKNIC charges for the card at the moment of issue, so cards cannot be refunded. Because they never expire, an unused card keeps its value for a future registration or renewal.

Yes. One PKNIC prepaid card equals one two year registration or renewal of a standard PK domain, so the card price matches the domain price.

No. Cards are only for registration and renewal payments. Ownership changes are done through PKNIC’s change of registrant process.

Web hosting is the service that keeps your website’s files on a server that is online all the time so visitors can load your site. Our complete beginner’s guide to web hosting covers the types, features, and how to choose.

Shared hosting places many websites on one server and shares its resources between them, which keeps the price low. It is the right starting point for most new websites and small businesses.

Start with shared, move to a VPS when traffic or custom software needs guaranteed resources, and go dedicated only for very large or regulated workloads. Our shared vs VPS vs dedicated comparison gives concrete examples.

SaharTech hosts on enterprise data centres with fast routes into Pakistan, and uses caching and optimised networking so pages load quickly for Pakistani visitors. Support and billing are handled from Karachi.

DirectAdmin, which is lighter and faster than cPanel and covers email, files, databases, backups, SSL, and one click app installs. cPanel is available on VPS plans on request.

Yes. Every hosting plan includes a one click WordPress installer plus a drag and drop builder option for simple sites, and SaharTech’s design team can build a full site for you.

Bandwidth is the amount of data your site sends to visitors each month. Plans include generous allowances, and normal business sites use only a fraction of it. Support will tell you before a limit is ever reached.

It is the percentage of time your site is promised to be online. SaharTech targets 99.9 percent, which means less than 45 minutes of downtime a month, and servers are monitored around the clock.

Depends on the plan. Starter shared plans host one site; higher shared, business, and WordPress plans host several under one account. The limit is shown on each plan.

On shared hosting the site keeps running but may slow down at the peak. If spikes are regular, moving to business hosting or a VPS gives the guaranteed resources to absorb them.

Check uptime record, real support response, included SSL and backups, local payment options, and honest renewal prices. Our guide to choosing the right web host is a full checklist.

Fast load times for local visitors, support in your time zone, rupee pricing with JazzCash and Easypaisa, and a team that understands Pakistani business needs. Read the Karachi hosting guide for a local checklist.

Log in to DirectAdmin, open E-mail Accounts, click Create, and enter the name and password. The address is live immediately and you can use it in webmail or any mail app.

Use IMAP for incoming and SMTP for outgoing mail with the server name shown in DirectAdmin, your full email address as the username, and SSL on both. The exact ports are listed under E-mail Accounts, and support can send a ready made guide.

Usually because SPF, DKIM, or DMARC records are missing on your domain. SaharTech adds these for hosted domains; if you use an external mail service, ask support to check the records.

Yes, hourly sending limits protect the server’s reputation so that all customers’ mail is delivered. The limits are more than enough for business use, and bulk newsletters should be sent through a dedicated email marketing service.

Yes. Keep the domain and hosting at SaharTech and add the MX records Google or Microsoft provide. Support can add them for you.

Go to webmail.yourdomain.com or the webmail link in your client area, then log in with your full email address and password.

Yes. Forwarders are set up in DirectAdmin under E-mail Accounts. You can forward to another address on your domain or to an external address such as Gmail.

Yes. Every hosting plan includes a free SSL certificate that renews automatically, so your site shows the padlock and https without extra cost.

Both encrypt traffic the same way. Paid certificates add organisation validation, a warranty, and options such as wildcard coverage for many subdomains. Most business sites are fine with the included certificate.

Yes. Google confirmed https as a ranking signal, and browsers mark non https sites as Not Secure, which also hurts trust and conversions.

Warning signs include unknown admin users, pages redirecting to other sites, Google flagging the site, or spam emails sent from your domain. If you see any of these, open a ticket and the team will scan and clean the account.

CloudLinux account isolation, Imunify malware scanning and cleanup, a web application firewall, brute force protection, and daily backups are included on every shared, business, and WordPress plan.

Daily backups are kept for a rolling period and can be restored from DirectAdmin in a few clicks, or by asking support. For extra safety, download a backup before major changes.

Yes. Network level protection filters attack traffic before it reaches the server. Very large targeted attacks on a single site may need a VPS with dedicated mitigation.

Keep WordPress, themes, and plugins updated, use strong passwords with two factor authentication, remove unused plugins, and rely on the included malware scanning and firewall. SaharTech WordPress hosting automates the updates.

Send your old host’s login through a ticket. The team copies your site, database, and email, tests it on SaharTech, and then you switch nameservers, so there is no downtime. The step by step migration guide explains each stage.

Most sites move within 24 hours. Large stores or accounts with many email mailboxes can take two to three days because the mail data is copied carefully.

No. Mailboxes and stored messages are copied before the switch, and the team times the nameserver change so no mail is lost in between.

Tickets are answered 24/7. Phone and WhatsApp support is available during business hours in Pakistan Standard Time.

Yes. The support team speaks Urdu and English, so you can explain the problem in whichever language you prefer.

Both. Plugin conflicts, white screens, slow admin dashboards, and update failures are handled by support on all WordPress and business plans.

Yes. Support installs WordPress, connects your domain, sets up email, and installs SSL at no charge. Full website design is available as a separate service.

It is your account dashboard where you manage domains, hosting, invoices, and tickets. Log in from the Client Login link on the site.
